Mell closed the massive doors behind her as she entered. The stables were empty. All the stalls bare, save a few pieces of armour hanging abandoned on the walls and one stall in the very back. Their last hope.
Mell quietly made her way through the stables and looked in to see a calf, the last calf, alone and crying. He misses his mom, his dad, his entire herd, she thought. All slaughtered at the hands of the Queen, in what would become known as the Great Massacre of 1231.
He is the last of the Battle Walrus'.
"Don't worry little one, we shall avenge them all." Mell whispered to the massive child.
"What chance do we have without them?" PeeWest grunted from the shadows. "They were our only hope."
"Don't say that. We have to succeed. God is on our side. Fuego won't let us down" muttered Mell.
"Where was Fuego when The False Village fell?" PeeWest raged, spittle flying with his words. "Or SomebodysKid? Where the fuck were they?"
Mell lowered her head in shame. "You have lost your way Kevin, that is why we fail. You have fallen too far from Peachy's light"
The calf sulked away to the back of the stall and grabbed a spear in his mouth. He turned around and offered it to Mell,
"Even SodaGut knows it. We must all fight. We must all fight and die if necessary. The Queen must fall."
